‘Graded inspections are carried out under section 5 of the Education Act 2005, and were previously known as section 5 inspections. In graded inspections, we use Ofsted’s full framework and grade the school for its overall effectiveness and against our key judgement (and any relevant provision judgement) grade descriptors.’ Guidance School Inspection Handbook

As a school, we were pleased that the hard work and high expectations of the Bentham School staff and wider community were recognised in the Ofsted inspection. This is reflected clearly throughout the report, particularly in the comments about our strong links with the local community and the positive culture that underpins our school.

The inspection also highlighted the drive and dedication shown by all leaders and staff in moving the school forward and making the changes needed to ensure we continue to deliver the best possible education for your children.

The curriculum developments introduced in recent years were acknowledged as being clearly and purposefully planned, and fully inclusive of all learners — something we have always taken great pride in at Bentham Community Primary School.

As we look ahead, maintaining these high standards remains a central priority. The updated Ofsted framework places an even stronger emphasis on inclusion, the ambition of the curriculum, and the effectiveness of leadership at every level. We are already working proactively on these areas to ensure that our provision continues to meet — and exceed — national expectations. This includes strengthening our approach to meeting the needs of all pupils, refining curriculum sequencing, and ensuring that every child is able to access high‑quality learning experiences.

We encourage you to read the full inspection report, as it reflects just how impressive our children were and how confidently they represented themselves and our school. They spoke proudly about our values and what makes Bentham School unique: a nurturing family, learning together.

Following our most recent Ofsted inspection, we have continued to build on the many strengths identified. Since I joined as Headteacher in September 2025, I have been working closely with staff and governors to make sure our school continues to grow and improve.

We are regularly reviewing how we work, using the latest Ofsted guidance, to ensure we provide the very best for all our children. A key focus for us is making sure every child feels included, supported and able to succeed. This ongoing work helps us stay ready for our next inspection, while keeping our children’s learning and wellbeing at the heart of everything we do.
