Rabbit Class (Years 2 and 3)

Welcome to Rabbit Class—a vibrant and engaging mixed-age class where Year 2 and Year 3 pupils learn and grow together in a supportive and nurturing environment.

Our Team

Mrs Fox is currently on maternity leave, and we are pleased to have Miss Hards teaching the class for the remainder of the week.

The class is supported by Miss Mulligan and Mrs Nelson, who work closely with pupils to ensure everyone receives the support they need.

Learning in Rabbit Class

Our curriculum is broad, engaging and carefully designed to develop key knowledge and skills across all areas of learning.

  • Mathematics focuses on building secure understanding of number, including place value, calculation and shape, alongside developing fluency and problem-solving skills.
  • English is built around high-quality texts, supporting pupils to develop their reading, writing and comprehension skills.
  • Science encourages curiosity through hands-on investigations, exploring topics such as forces and plants.
  • History helps pupils understand how life has changed over time, for example through studying how toys have evolved.
  • Geography develops pupils’ understanding of their local area and the wider world.
  • Art and Design Technology provide opportunities for creativity, including drawing with charcoal and designing structures.
  • Physical Education (PE) promotes fitness, coordination and teamwork through a range of activities, including games and dance.
Across all subjects, we place a strong emphasis on developing confidence, independence and resilience, helping pupils to become motivated and enthusiastic learners.

    Daily Routines and Expectations
To help children be ready to learn each day, we ask that they bring:
A school bag containing their reading book and reading diary
A named water bottle (preferably water)
A healthy snack for playtime (optional)
A coat suitable for the weather
Please ensure all items of clothing and belongings are clearly labelled.

    Reading at Home
Reading plays a key role in your child’s development. Pupils are encouraged to read regularly at home and in school using books chosen from the class library.
    We ask that:
Children read at least three times per week at home
An adult signs the reading diary to record this
Reading books and diaries are brought into school each day
Children are also encouraged to note any new or unfamiliar words to help build their vocabulary and support their writing.

    Spelling and Key Number Facts
Spellings are set regularly using Spelling Shed, with paper copies available on request.
Children are also supported to develop rapid recall of key number facts, which are essential for success in maths:
Year 2: number bonds to 10 and 20, and 2, 5 and 10 times tables
Year 3: building on the above, including the 3, 4 and 8 times tables
Children are encouraged to practise regularly at home using TT RockStars and NumBots.

    Physical Education
PE takes place twice each week. On these days, children should come to school wearing their PE kit:
    Plain white t-shirt
    Plain dark shorts or joggers
Plain dark jumper (not school uniform)
    Trainers or pumps
For safety reasons, earrings should be removed on PE days.

    Working in Partnership
We value strong relationships with families and believe that working together supports the best outcomes for children. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel welcome to speak to a member of the Rabbit Class team before or after school, or contact the school office to arrange an appointment.

Rabbit Class is a happy, inclusive environment where children are supported to develop confidence, curiosity and a love of learning.
