Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND)

At our school, we are committed to providing an inclusive, nurturing environment where every child is valued, supported, and able to thrive.

We believe that all pupils—regardless of their needs—are entitled to high‑quality teaching, ambitious expectations, and opportunities to succeed both academically and socially.

Our SEND Leadership Team

Mr Richard Wight – Headteacher & SENDCo (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator) – Mr Wight leads our whole‑school approach to SEND, ensuring that provision is effective, inclusive, and aligned with the latest statutory guidance and Ofsted expectations.
Mrs Emma Chapman – Deputy SENDCo  – Mrs Chapman works closely with pupils, families, and staff to coordinate support, monitor progress, and ensure that every child with additional needs receives the right help at the right time.
Together, they oversee the identification of needs, the implementation of support strategies, and the ongoing review of each child’s progress.

Our Commitment to Inclusion

In line with the current Ofsted framework, we are dedicated to:
  • High‑quality, adaptive teaching for all pupils, ensuring that learning is accessible and appropriately challenging.
  • Early identification of needs, using clear processes and evidence‑based assessments.
  • Strong partnerships with families, recognising that parents and carers are central to understanding and supporting their child.
  • A broad, ambitious curriculum, designed so that pupils with SEND can access and enjoy all areas of school life.
  • Effective use of support staff, ensuring interventions are purposeful, monitored, and regularly reviewed.
  • A culture of high expectations, where every child is encouraged to develop independence, confidence, and resilience.
  • Working with external professionals, such as educational psychologists, speech and language therapists, and health services, when specialist input is needed.

How We Support Children with SEND

We follow the Graduated Approach (Assess – Plan – Do – Review), ensuring that support is tailored, targeted, and regularly evaluated.
This includes:
  • Classroom adaptations and differentiated teaching Targeted small‑group or 1:1 interventions
  • Personalised support plans
  • Emotional and social wellbeing support
  • Regular communication with parents and carers
Our aim is always to remove barriers to learning and help every child make strong progress from their starting points.

Working Together

We value open, honest communication and encourage families to contact us with any concerns or questions about their child’s development or learning. We are here to listen, support, and work collaboratively to ensure the best possible outcomes.
