Welcome to Ladybird Class

We are delighted to introduce Ladybird Class, our brand-new provision for two-year-old and three-year old children, opening in September 2026.

Ladybird Class has been created to provide the very best start to your child’s educational journey. As a governor-led provision within Bentham Community Primary School, it offers a warm, caring and stimulating environment where every child is welcomed, valued and encouraged to flourish.

We understand that the early years are a time of enormous growth and development. Our aim is to create a happy, secure and nurturing environment where children feel safe to explore, play, learn and build positive relationships.

A Wonderful Start to School Life

Ladybird Class is led by Ms Theresa Wales, supported by Mrs Jenny Mether and Mrs Shelley Scott, who together bring a wealth of experience, care and enthusiasm for early childhood education.

Our experienced team is committed to ensuring every child feels happy, settled and confident as they begin their learning journey. We recognise that every child develops at their own pace and work closely with families to provide a personalised and nurturing start to school life.

Learning Through Play

Children learn best through meaningful play, exploration and positive relationships.

Our carefully planned provision encourages curiosity, creativity and independence while supporting every aspect of children’s development. Through exciting indoor and outdoor learning experiences, children will have opportunities to:

  • build confidence and independence
  • develop communication and language skills
  • make friends and learn alongside others
  • explore, investigate and solve problems
  • develop early literacy and mathematical understanding
  • express themselves through imaginative and creative play
  • enjoy stories, songs, music and movement
  • develop their physical skills through active play
  • build resilience, curiosity and a lifelong love of learning.

Every day is carefully planned to balance child-initiated exploration with high-quality adult interactions that extend children’s thinking and support their individual development.

Working in Partnership with Families

We believe that parents and carers are children’s first and most important educators.

By working closely together, we can ensure every child feels secure, happy and ready to learn. We value open communication and encourage families to share their child’s interests, achievements and experiences so that learning at home and nursery complements one another.

Our team is always available to discuss your child’s progress, celebrate successes and provide support whenever it is needed.

Preparing for the Future

Ladybird Class forms the first stage of a child’s journey through Bentham Community Primary School.

By providing a caring, stimulating and inclusive environment, we help children develop the confidence, independence and social skills they need for a successful transition into Nursery and beyond.

Above all, we want every child to leave Ladybird Class feeling happy, confident, curious and excited about learning.
