Hedgehog Class

Hedgehog Class (Year 1 and Year 2)

Hedgehog Class is a warm and nurturing mixed-age class, where Reception and Year 1 children learn and grow together. The class is taught by Mrs Cryer, supported by Mrs Green and Miss Boocock, who work closely as a team to provide a supportive and engaging environment for all pupils.

In Hedgehog Class, children experience a carefully balanced curriculum that blends play-based learning with more structured teaching. Reception children learn through exploration and adult-guided activities, while Year 1 pupils are supported in developing independence and adapting to more formal learning. Across the class, there is a strong focus on building confidence, early reading and writing skills, and developing a love of learning.

Learning is enriched through a wide range of experiences across subjects, including phonics, maths, science, creative arts and outdoor learning. The classroom environment encourages curiosity, independence and collaboration, ensuring that every child is supported to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
