Space Gallery
In art, pupils explore the work of a range of artists, including Peter Thorpe, whose vibrant and imaginative space-themed artwork provides inspiration. His creative use of bold colours and abstract backgrounds encourages pupils to experiment and develop their own artistic ideas.
Building on this inspiration, pupils work with a variety of materials and techniques. They create abstract backgrounds using chalks and paints, develop representations of planets, and design detailed rockets using tooling foil and etching techniques. Pupils also explore drawing through ink work and create sculptural pieces using clay.
Through these experiences, children develop their understanding of artistic processes, alongside key skills such as creativity, experimentation and refinement. Opportunities to explore different media and techniques help to build confidence and allow pupils to express their ideas in a range of ways.
Our art curriculum continues to evolve, offering pupils a broad range of creative experiences, including opportunities to develop practical skills such as textiles and sewing.
