Super Science
As part of their science learning, pupils explore the topic of Animals Including Humans, developing their understanding of how the human body works through engaging and practical activities.
They learn to identify key parts of the skeleton and understand how muscles function, including how groups of muscles work together to enable movement. This provides a strong foundation for understanding how the body supports and protects itself.
Pupils also study the digestive system, learning about the different organs involved and the important roles they play in processing food. To bring this learning to life, children take part in a hands-on demonstration which models the journey food takes through the body. This practical approach helps to deepen understanding of scientific concepts in a memorable and meaningful way.
Following this, pupils apply their learning through writing, creating imaginative recounts of the digestive process. This supports both their scientific understanding and their ability to communicate ideas clearly, while also allowing creativity and enjoyment to shine through in their work.
Through a combination of practical investigation, discussion and written work, pupils develop their scientific knowledge alongside key skills such as enquiry, explanation and reflection.
