At Bentham Community Primary School, we are proud to support local and national charities and community initiatives, including the British Legion Poppy Appeal, and Child in Need, helping our pupils understand the importance of kindness, compassion and giving back.

Recently, staff and pupils came together to “think pink” and raise money for Cancer Research. The school was filled with bright, cheerful colours—from pink socks and tutus to creative hairstyles—as everyone showed their support for a very worthwhile cause.

This event was particularly meaningful as we were supporting Sally, a much-valued member of our school team, who took on the incredible challenge of completing a triathlon to raise funds for Cancer Research. Her determination and commitment inspired both children and staff, and we were delighted to be able to support her efforts as a school community.

Experiences like this play an important role in our pupils’ personal development, helping them to build empathy, understand the importance of contributing to society and develop a strong sense of social responsibility.

These opportunities also strengthen the sense of community we value so highly at Bentham, bringing people together for a shared purpose.
